This is Erik's experience: a U.S. Army-affiliated patient who used our Complimentary Transportation for U.S. Army Patients at Seoul BGSS Eye Clinic service and underwent a smooth, efficient process from consultation to surgery.
Scheduling Complimentary Transportation to BGSS Eye Clinic
Erik first became aware of Seoul | Busan BGSS Eye Clinic at the Fall Festival at Camp Humphreys, where he connected with our team and decided to schedule an appointment. Following communication with Yong, our English Coordinator, he was provided with FREE transportation that accommodated his availability.
Upon confirmation of his appointment, Erik received detailed instructions regarding his pick-up location and time. He was asked to meet the driver at 7:00 AM outside the GS25 Convenience Store on Anjeong Rodeo Street, a convenient location near one of Camp Humphreys's main gates. The driver carried a sign displaying Erik’s name to facilitate easy identification.
The Day of the Appointment
On the morning of his scheduled visit, Erik met the driver and boarded a comfortable five-seater van for transport to Seoul BGSS Eye Clinic. The shuttle was scheduled to ensure his timely arrival for his 9:30 AM examination. Our clinic conducts same-day surgery screenings between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM, offering an efficient, well-coordinated experience.
Upon arrival, Erik was welcomed by Yong and guided into the clinic. As he arrived early, he was offered a complimentary beverage at our second-floor Café Le Bleu while he waited for his consultation.
At 9:30 AM, Erik underwent a comprehensive eye examination, including assessments of retinal conditions, visual acuity, corneal shape, corneal thickness, and more. The results confirmed his eligibility for ZEISS SMILE Pro, his preferred vision correction procedure. His surgery was subsequently scheduled for 3:00 PM the same day.
Post-Surgical Care and Return to Camp Humphreys
Following the successful completion of his surgery at 4:00 PM, Erik was given time to rest at our Premium Surgical Recovery Center (The Lounge) before his scheduled 5:00 PM return shuttle. Since he was the only Camp Humphreys patient requiring transport that day, Yong arranged for an earlier departure, allowing Erik to return sooner. By 6:30 PM, Erik had safely returned to Camp Humphreys, leaving him ample time for dinner and post-surgical rest.
Follow-Up Examination and Outcome
A week later, Erik returned for his post-operative follow-up, during which he met with Dr. Kun-Hae Kim, whom he had initially consulted at the Fall Festival. His recovery was progressing optimally, and his vision had improved to 20/16 (1.2).
As part of the ZEISS SMILE Pro package, Erik also received a USB drive containing video footage of his surgical procedure, which Yong reviewed with him in detail.
